BACK HOME

We are home, the swelling remains and the oozing of fluid from his leg continues.

They did an ultrasound of both legs to confirm that he does not have a blood clot. They took a chest x-ray to determine that he is not retaining fluids in the chest, lungs and heart, which he is not. There is concern on my part because the x-ray did show that there has not been a change in the size of the heart since the last x-ray in August. That concerns me because we need for the pulmonary hypertension to improve before he can be put on the liver transplant list. The doctors in Chapel Hill have all of the information and will advise me if we need to do anything.

My heart breaks when I think of the number of hours this young man has spent on the lousy sheets they have in the ERs. The fact is, they aren’t big enough to be tucked in, and don’t stay in place. It is always uncomfortable because you end up with half of your body on the plastic. He is a real trooper. He doesn’t complain. He lets them do what they have to do no matter the pain or discomfort. He is always cooperative and compliant plus kind to each and every person that walks in to poke and probe him. He keeps his humor active and really does the best he can in the situation.
