WE KEEP OUR EYES ON THE TARGET

Philip continues to struggle with the same symptoms. He is able to get some of his oral medication down, but not on a dependable basis. He started showing signs of confusion which is probably the beginning of another encephalopathic episode. This is probably because he has been unable to consistently take the antibiotic for the liver. His IV needed to be replaced today. They sent in several teams of nurses, and doctors, but they were unable to find a vein. A probable cause is that he is dehydrated. It does seem as if he is going round and round in terms of getting well. The nursing staff has been extraordinary, kind, patient, encouraging, informative, and more importantly attentive. The physicians are working as hard as they can to get Philip well enough to leave the hospital.
Those of us who care about Philip need to be patient, as this situation gets worked through. We keep our eyes on the target.
