We are very happy to be home. It is really a pretty easy drive for us but there is no place like home. Philip is unbelievably optimistic. I look at him in amazement. He was absolutely sure his heart was going to be smaller and equally sure the cardiac catheterization results will be positive. As a mother I love sharing his optimism and yet I feel caution because I don’t want him to be disappointed. On the other hand, a positive attitude goes a very long way when dealing with medical situations. The one thing that is definite is my admiration of him. His kindness and graciousness pours forth from him. He won’t let me keep anything to myself. I hadn’t mentioned my concern and he pushed me until I shared. He knows me well enough to know when something is on my mind. He told me that if we are going to go through this together I need to share everything.

As an academic, I tend to do major research before every medical procedure, from giving birth and nursing, to most recently, rotator cuff surgery for my shoulder. People grimaced and told me that this was one of the most painful and debilitating surgeries of them all. I was so fortunate to find Lorrie Klemons, who immediately provided me with a list of items I could do to prepare for the surgery, for the family to help me through the time, as well as clever and simple ways to make life easier and more manageable with a whole assortment of tips and ideas. Lorrie's list and expert advice, as well as her warm and loving support, got me through a very difficult time. One year later I am pain-free, fully mobile, and extremely happy. What a wonderful resource!!

My dear friend Phil, IS a very incredible young man. I admire his calm, positive and very kind and gracious outlook!! He also cares deeply for his friends, asking them how THEY are doing, and sincerely caring for / about them! Phil has told me he is praying for me, as well. He is precious and I value him dearly and his friendship. My prayers remain in place for him! bighugz to all of you!
I was just talking with my coworker about this today at dinner . Don’t remember how in the world we got on the subject actually , they brought it up. I do recall eating a wonderful fruit salad with sunflower seeds on it. I digress…
