HOME AGAIN

We are back at home. The echocardiogram was an easy test and we arrived at home just in time for dinner. Philip and I had a real chance to talk things over during the drive There were two things he wanted to talk about. The first was to just go over the Liver Transplant Meeting. In a previous blog I mentioned how this meeting was emotionally overwhelming. As a result, Philip had taken a couple of days to process the information and then expressed how he personally was feeling. In the meeting, they gave us a run down of all the procedures, as well as a long list of things that can go wrong. Several times they mentioned that the patients had “end stage liver disease”. It was a lot to absorb.

An additional issue has also surfaced. As a result of everything, he has started to look a bit more sickly and frail. Unfortunately, a number of people we encountered on the trip, began referring to him as a woman. They would say “Yes M’am”, or “does she need a wheelchair?” This occurred many times. It is really weird, because I don’t think he looks anything like a woman. Phil came up with a solution, the idea of getting a hat. What a shame that he has to deal with that indignity as well.

  1. Phillip, what the heck??? a woman??? Go figure?! People are so predictable unpredictable. A boy with long hair before his upshernish – Oh, what a cute girl she is …. people’s perception always amazes me! Never worry what other people think. Be true to yourself and you conquer everything you want to.
